Shuk Chun Yeung 问的是 verb infinitive(to + verb)和 gerund(verb + ing)的分别。在例句里,他们都以宾语出现。但不管是主语还是宾语,它们的意思都很接近。
勉强要把它们区分,我们可以这样说:gerund 说的是一贯的情形,而 verb infinitive 说的是一些比较属于此时此刻的事。我们可想象这样的一个情况:
英英参加夏令营,报名表格上问英英是否喜欢游泳。因为问题要知道参加者一贯的喜好,极有可能是这样问:
"Do you like swimming?"("Do you like to swim?" 也没错。)
夏令营的第一天,有几项活动可供选择,辅导员走到英英身边,想知道待会她要游泳还是练瑜伽,于是问:"Do you like to swim? Or do you like to do yoga?"
在这种情况下,由于问的是有关即将发生的事,说 "Do you like swimming?" 就不太合适了。所以也有人认为 verb infinitive 是用来表明意图或意向。
